Actor/Playwright/Poet/Singer/Director/Author Cedric Leonárd Jones has been active in the New York City Independent Theatre scene for over a decade.
He has appeared in a number of productions, ranging from Friar Lawrence in the TheatreRats produced Romeo and Juliet to the Space Commander Bunny in DM Theatrics' Plan Nine From Outer Space.
His one-act plays Verses (winner of the 2000 Emerald Theatre Best Play Award) and Trouble in Paradise were chosen for the Short Subjects division of The Tenth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival in 2009.
In 2008, he released his first book of poetry, I Wear the Colour Green, a collection of poems written throughout his life. His second collection We Whisper and Other Poems, was published in June 2014.
In 2015, Cedric made his solo cabaret debut, starring in The Mister Diva Show at Don't Tell Mama NYC. Since that time, the jazz trio Mister Diva & The Gents has performed throughout NYC.
Cedric Jones was born in Brooklyn, NY but spent many years in South Carolina. He credits the contrasting cultures for having an influence on his humor and tenacity. He graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina, where he studied both Theatre and Mass Communications.
